Noted Malayalam film director Shri. Kamal then cast her in his highly acclaimed film ''Karutha Pakshikal'' where her portrayal of a poor blind girl, exuding innocence and noble thoughts was highly appreciated. This role won her the coveted Kerala State Film Award.
